Trapped

Here you are, yet again
Crawling. Creeping unto me
Seeping through my skin
You freeze me from within.

Warmth. Sunshine. Radiance.
Deteriorate in your presence
Smiles condense
There isn't a twinkle in the eyes.

Happiness lays suspended
The gloom envelops me
Like a parasite
the misery is gnawing me
So deep within, it's becoming me.

Afar, yet so near
The chills assassinate me
Shivering, I yearn to be free
Knowing I wouldn't ever be

I'm trapped, bound.
In a figment my own imagination
Except, your demeanour
Cold. Ruthless. Selfish.
Has turned it into
Something I barely recognise.

Numb, I can barely feel
A prisoner in my own self.
