Happy Valentine's Day!

Before I start, I would like to share a beautiful quote with you:

Young love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep-burning, unquenchable.

- Henry Ward Beecher

Well, I have to say a lot of things, but I couldn't find something to bind it.

We all know something or the other about the history, civics, geography about V-day, but not everything! So I thought maybe I should take the initiative and make the picture more clear!

History Aspect:

Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cardspresenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The day was originally a pagan festival that was renamed after two Early Christian martyrsnamed Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

Political Aspect (In India) :

I am not going to give facts or statistical information which can be quoted. I am just going to give an overview and of course MY view of what's the meaning of Valentine's day to some of our political "leaders". (YES! It' is time to bash Sri Ram Sene!) :P

There has never been a positive response from our loooooser leaders about this day. Since the time I have started reading newspapers, watching news channels, there has always been some problem or the other with the "loser leaders". From clicking pictures of couples in parks and sending them to their parents , to beating the guy, to now, stripping girls, in the name of our "CULTURE".  I am a kannadiga and I cannot tell you how ashamed I am of this Pramod Muthalik! I am all for preserving our country's culture and heritage, but I do not understand, what's the harm in embracing western culture? Don't they celebrate Diwali and Holi? Should we go and bash them also? For embracing our rituals and traditions?

There is something burning inside me , which I so badly want to ask these people, who are the nation's leaders, everytime something like this happens.

Do you know why our nation is still termed "developing" inspite of the overflowing intelligence, minerals, resources, talent, land mass, population? And why small countries like France, who don't even have water of their own are termed "developed"?

I know! Because all of this is wasted in moral policing and after that stopping those self appointed moral policemen! If only Mr. Pramod Muthalik had thought of NOT tolerating the terrorism and going and beating them up, the country will be a better place to live in. Oops! I forgot what a coward he is! He would pee in his pants than go and fight for a GOOD cause. I cannot believe what a bully, coward, shit faced he is! Stripping woman is a part of his culture! If only he used his pea-sized brains for something constructive! If you don’t give women their due status and respect in the society, how will the nation develop? How will we be EVER able to rub shoulders with US of A? Even in the times of recession, the country has not lost it’s foothold and dignity! How will we ever stop brain drain, if the national issue is limited to why some poor girls go pubbing?

"We are going to protest against Valentine's Day. We have been opposing it not just this time but have been opposing it for the last 10 years. Let them celebrate it in the church -- not outside in society. They can do this in their church or in their homes. We are also requesting those printing Valentine's Day cards not to do so this time"

That's the limit of his brains! IS THIS A NATIONAL ISSUE? I don’t understand one thing, where do these people get these ideas from? Is there a secret United Nations conference for dumb-asses like him and Raj Thackerey? Where do they get money to execute all this? As if Mr. Muthalik was not enough, Baba Ramdev also started attending  the secret UN conference for dumb-asses. Just now, I saw his “press conference” for Valentine ’s Day! He has problems with Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, AND BIRTHDAY celebrations at 12 in the night! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? No one celebrates your birthday, huh? My god! Only if all this was done for the terrorists, who REALLY pose a threat to our country and not a bunch of harmless girls pubbing! Only if all this was done to stop hundreds and thousands of INNOCENT people dying! And now the slug faced wants to gift us sarees! If my facts are not wrong, Saree is the most sensual form of garment ever invented! Nothing flatters a body more than a saree! Why don’t you wear a lungi, mister? Maybe when his goons catch hold of HIS daughter, then he will understand.

Phew, sorry, got carried away. But I feel good, very good! :P I hope something happens to him (read: heart attack) when he sees those pink chaddis! And I hope each one of us gets our V-day gift from him, the pink sarees. Not a bad colour! :)

My take on Love, Valentine’s day and all:

Somehow, love always reminds me of a flower, as in how the petals make place for each one to grow gracefully and beautifully by making compromises, but not portraying it as an effort. I think Love is also something like that..giving each other his/her due place and respect, yet being one.

And Valentine’s day is yet another day to celebrate this happy and graceful bonding.

And I am going now, as Chandler is going to propose Monica in this episode! Lol!

BUT Before I end, another quote:

Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.  But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires;  To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.  To know the pain of too much tenderness.  To be wounded by your own understanding of love;  And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

- Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

These moral policemen need a rod stuck up their behinds and hoisted up on the peaks of that shit faced man's house you were talking about.

PS: I'm not very in favor of obvious PDAs n a country like ours, yet opposing against love? Zzzzzzzz.....

haha, i know. I mean, i am also not in favour of PDA. but well, if some couples are okay with holding hands, sitting closely, it's not exactly offensive, haina? it's their personal choice!
